weddings in lanzarote Spouse:  someone who'll stand by you through all the trouble you wouldn't have had if you'd stayed single.

Couples wishing to have a Spanish Civil Ceremony need to apply to the Civil Registry District Court where they are “empadronado” in Spain.  One of the couple must be registered (“empadronado”) at the local Town Hall in order to apply for a civil wedding. To register you must either live in Spain or have a property there.  You can marry outside of the town or province that you are registered by making clear on the application where you wish the wedding to take place.

For Lanzarote both parties would need to prove residency in Spain for the past two years. Other documentation needed includes:

  • long version birth certificates, legalised with an 'Apostile' stamp and translated into Spanish
  • certification from your Consulate to say you are free to marry
  • the marriage 'bands' may have to be published also by your Consulate office
  • full passport

The number of documents required for individual cases to marry may vary so it is vital that you seek clarification on exactly what documents are needed. For further details please contact our offices.

You may have your celebration in a Church, providing neither partner has not been divorced or maybe you would prefer an outside ceremony at one of our approved venues. The private beach area at the Hesperia Hotel and the Sun Terrace of the Iberostar in Puerto Calero are both stunning locations.
